Worthington Plastics Chooses QAD Internet-Enabled Applications With Services for Automotive-Specific Solution

    CARPINTERIA, Calif.--Dec. 10, 1999--

Automotive Supplier Ranks QAD Above Competitors for
Easy-to-Implement ERP, Supply Chain Planning Applications
and Streamlined EDI

QAD , developer of industry-specific e-business software for manufacturers and distributors, announced that Worthington Custom Plastics has signed a contract for QAD applications and services.
Worthington ranked QAD above competitors for its easy-to-implement ERP and supply chain planning applications combined with a streamlined EDI e-commerce system.
Based in Salem, Ohio, Worthington Custom Plastics manufactures plastic injection molded grills and dashboards for the automotive industry, including key customers like Saturn, Honda and GM. The automotive supplier was faced with a number of issues such as a need for streamlined EDI e-commerce, pressure from partners to seamlessly deliver very high quality products, and a need to implement its new solution within six months at three sites.
"We chose QAD and the power of its ECommerce system to deliver a fast, simple-to-implement solution to enhance customer service. QAD will make it possible for us to seamlessly share EDI information without re-keying data, thereby saving us time and improving efficiency in scheduling jobs," explained Cliff Croley, president of Worthington Custom Plastics. "QAD delivers a fast, easy-to-implement solution."
QAD's ECommerce system eliminates the need for additional EDI programming and prepares companies to do business at a fraction of the time and cost of most conventional ERP software systems. With the EDI functionality embedded into QAD applications, users simply download EDI templates from a variety of libraries.
ECommerce then edits and transforms electronic data traveling in either direction based upon trading partner tables. Worthington will implement QAD's MFG/PRO with its Java Network User Interface (NetUI), ECommerce, Qwizard, The Planner, Release Management and Supply Chain Planning applications.
RCM Technologies Inc. served as QAD's sales agent during the selection process. "Worthington quickly recognized the value of reducing the complexity and costs related to implementing EDI transactions," said John Andri, account executive of RCM. "Most companies don't realize this until it's too late." Deloitte and Touche LLP, a QAD Service Alliance Partner, will coordinate the Worthington implementation in cooperation with RCM.
Worthington signed the contract in September of 1999 to implement QAD applications at three sites. All sites are expected to go live by April 2000.
