UautoBid.com Hires Regional Sales Team in 8 Major U.S. Car Markets
UNIONDALE, NY--Dec. 8, 1999--In the race to provide automobiles directly to consumers over the Internet, UautoBid.com, Inc. (www.UautoBid.com) today announced that it has hired a nationwide sales team of representatives. UautoBid representatives will seek out dealerships in the major U.S. car markets willing to sell their cars through the UautoBid Web site.UautoBid.com is the first Web site to allow customers to bid on and purchase a specific new or used vehicle from dealers' inventories. "We have a team of 25 talented individuals all of whom have been successful selling products and services to the dealership community and dealer reaction to the UautoBid model has been extraordinary", said Michael Gannon, president and CEO of UautoBid.com Inc.
The team is currently recruiting dealers with the goal of increasing the more than 250,000 cars currently for sale on UautoBid.com to over 500,000 by the second quarter of 2000. Regions with representatives include; New England; New Jersey and New York; the Metro D.C. area; the Metro Chicago area; California; Texas; Florida; the Southwest; the lower Midwest; and the Pacific Northwest.
"UautoBid is dedicated to providing national support to our online presence, and this experienced sales team is committed to making it grow," said Mr. Gannon. "With auto dealerships listing specific cars for sale on our site, consumers can be sure that the car they want is available immediately. Our participating dealers also provide them with the service and support that they expect when buying a new or used car."
On the UautoBid.com Web site, users can purchase vehicles by either Dutch Auction or "name your price." In the Dutch Auction, a suggested selling price is displayed together with the current auction price. The auction price drops at timed intervals and the first bid to be submitted wins the vehicle. At the Auto Mall section of the site, users are asked to name a price that they would pay for the vehicle, and are told instantly if they have won the car or not. Once the customer makes a deposit of $250 on the vehicle, he or she has 48 hours to visit the dealership for an inspection, complete the purchase, and drive the car home.
