Hiroyuki Sato Named President of Hayes Lemmerz Japan
    NORTHVILLE, Mich., Dec. 8 -- Hayes Lemmerz International,
Inc. , one of the world's leading suppliers of wheels, brakes,
suspension, structural and other lightweight components to the automotive and
commercial highway markets, announces the appointment of Hiroyuki Sato to the
position of president, Hayes Lemmerz Japan, effective January 1, 2000.
    In his new position, Mr. Sato will lead the implementation of business
initiatives to meet Japanese market needs.  He will also be closely involved
in the sales and financial activities as the Hayes Lemmerz's presence in this
market continues to grow.  Mr. Sato will be based in Tokyo and report to Hayes
Lemmerz's North American Automotive Wheels Group President Ronald Kolakowski.
    Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Kolakowski stated, "I am delighted that
Hiroyuki Sato is joining us.  He possesses the keen business skills and
knowledge of the Japanese market to ensure that Hayes Lemmerz continues to
grow as a strong and profitable marque into the future.  I look forward to
working with him."
    According to Mr. Kolakowski, the realignment will improve support to the
company's business in the Asia-Pacific region.
    Mr. Sato comes to Hayes Lemmerz from Nissan Motors Ltd., where he was most
recently senior buyer of parts purchasing, in Atsugi, Japan.  He joined Nissan
in 1985, and held numerous international positions in business development,
sales, purchasing, and project and financial management.
    Mr. Sato is a graduate of Gakusyuin University, Tokyo, Japan, where he
received a degree in Political Science.
