Donald C. Pyatt Named Group Vice President of New Intermet Unit
TROY, Mich., Dec. 8 -- Intermet Corporation
today announced that Donald C. Pyatt has been named group vice president of
Intermet Light Metals, a new business unit. In this newly created position,
Pyatt will assume responsibility for Intermet's non-ferrous operations and
report to John Doddridge, Intermet's chairman and chief executive officer. He
will be located at Intermet headquarters in Troy, Michigan.
Intermet Light Metals will combine the company's Tool Products group with
the pending acquisitions of Ganton Technologies, Inc., and Diversified
Diemakers, Inc. Sales for the combined Light Metals group are expected to
approach $400 million in fiscal year 2000.
"We are exceptionally pleased to have Don at the helm of Intermet Light
Metals," said Doddridge. "He has extensive management and operating
experience in aluminum die casting as well as in other manufacturing
environments. Under his direction, Tool Products enjoyed substantial growth
in both sales and profitability."
Doddridge emphasized that the formation of Intermet Light Metals is not a
move away from ferrous castings, but a broadening of materials and casting
processes consistent with Intermet's overall growth strategy.
Pyatt served as president of Tool Products for the past nine years,
directing all aspects, including sales, marketing, production, engineering and
finance. He continued in that role after Intermet acquired Tool Products in
December 1998. Before Tool Products, he was an executive vice president and
general manager at Henry Valve Corporation, and a general manager at Dana
Corporation.
Pyatt earned a BS in electrical engineering from Princeton University, and
an MBA from Syracuse University.
With headquarters in Troy, Michigan, Intermet Corporation and its
subsidiaries are full-service suppliers to the automotive and industrial
equipment industries worldwide, providing precision iron and aluminum cast and
finished components. Intermet also manufactures cranes and specialty service
vehicles. The company has more than 7,000 employees at 19 locations in North
America and Europe. More information about the company is available on the
Internet at http://www.intermet.com .
