Johnson Controls Announces 1999 Supplier Performance Award WinnersCompany recognizes the contributions of its suppliers PLYMOUTH, Mich., Dec. 8 -- To recognize the exemplary performance of its supply base, Johnson Controls presented 18 suppliers with the company's distinguished 1999 Supplier Performance Awards. The awards dinner was held yesterday in Grand Rapids, Michigan at the Amway Grand Hotel. "While we took one night to recognize excellence, it is the day-to-day diligence and dedication of our suppliers that makes celebrating success possible," said Larry Alles, vice president and general manager of worldwide purchasing for Johnson Controls. "The performance and commitment from our suppliers has helped position Johnson Controls as a leader within the automotive industry." According to Alles, the awards that Johnson Controls has received -- such as General Motors' Corporation of the Year Award and Ford's Corporate Citizenship Award -- have occurred as a result of the performance of the entire Johnson Controls organization, which includes its suppliers in the value chain. Johnson Controls' 1999 Supplier Performance Awards are presented annually for supplier accomplishments. Exemplary supplier performance is recognized on three levels including gold, silver and bronze. Performance is measured in four key areas, including: quality; commercial; material and logistics; and service and engineering support. Company officials are encouraging suppliers to meet the same standards. "At Johnson Controls, we take our commitment to the environment seriously," Alles said.
