Autobytel.com Appoints Tracey McCarter, Director of Women's Programs; Autobytel.com to Inaugurate Women-Focused Automotive InitiativesIRVINE, Calif., Dec. 8 -- Autobytel.com , the leading international e-commerce provider, today announced the appointment of Tracey McCarter as Director of Women's Programs. McCarter is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Autobytel.com's women's initiatives, including formation of strategic partnerships, market research and content development. Additionally, McCarter will work at the grassroots level to effectively bridge the "gap" often felt by women when shopping for a car. "We plan to launch some exciting women's initiatives in the near future, and Tracey will be instrumental in driving those programs," said Mark Lorimer, President and CEO of Autobytel.com. "According to a recent survey by Neilsen Media, the number of women shopping online nearly doubled from 5.8 million to 10.6 million between June 1998 and April 1999. This, in conjunction with the fact that women traditionally have negative perceptions about the car-buying process, has led Autobytel.com to push forward with programs to encourage women to come to our site for all their automotive needs." Women-focused content is already available on the Autobytel.com website, along with an invitation from McCarter for input on a myriad of issues relating to women. Leveraging McCarter's research, and the feedback she receives from Autobytel.com users, Autobytel.com plans to launch an online automotive community for women in early 2000. Autobytel.com is also reaching out to women's groups via corporate sponsorships of organizations such as MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) and NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) and, in 2000, McCarter will travel the country speaking to women's groups, offering guidance on car purchasing and ownership. Prior to joining Autobytel.com, McCarter served as Marketing Manager at Miralite Communications where her responsibilities included the design and development of the company websites. McCarter also spent five years in sales and marketing in the investment banking industry working for Stephens Inc. and Morgan Stanley. McCarter received a BA from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from the University of Southern California. McCarter is a member of the WAAI (Women's Automotive Association International). About autobytel.com inc.
