AMA: NPG pays $200,000 to AMA Pro Motocrossers
6 December 1999
PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- The National Promoters Group (NPG), a coalition of motocross track owners hosting AMA Pro Racing National Motocross races, have paid out $200,000 in cash awards to the top riders of the 1999 AMA Motocross Nationals. Riders finishing in the top 20 of the 250cc and 125cc AMA National Motocross classes shared in the sponsor-supported $200,000 payout. 1999 AMA 250cc National Motocross Champ Greg Albertyn and 125cc Champ Ricky Carmichael topped the list of 40 bonus winners, with each champ earning a cool $15,000 on top of race winnings and AMA-administered bonuses. The NPG $200,000 bonus fund is funded by a group of sponsors, whose support helps raise the profile of the series and the paychecks of the riders, said AMA Pro Racing Director of Competition Merrill Vanderslice. "The NPG sponsors make a significant contribution toward the overall prize money available to riders competing in the AMA Motocross Nationals," Vanderslice said. "From the champs on down to the 20th-ranked rider in each division, everybody ends the season with a nice check." 1999 NPG sponsors include: Dunlop Radial Rover Light Truck Tires; Dunlop Superiority; THQ; Thor, Parts Unlimited; Moto-Tees; Pro-X Pistons; FMF; Ballzee; Scott; Klotz; SBS Brakes; 1-800-Collect; 909 Handlebars; Pro Action; Boyesen; Twin Air; Alpinestars and C.Ti.
