Action Performance Announces New Appointments and Responsibilities for Senior Executives
PHOENIX--Dec. 6, 1999--Action Performance Companies Inc. Monday announced new appointments and responsibilities for several of its senior executives designed to further consolidate operations and better position the company for continued growth.David Husband, chief financial officer, Howard Jacobs, senior vice president, Worldwide Marketing and Business Development, and Melodee Volosin, president, Action Racing Collectables (ARC), are being named executive vice presidents of the company and will assume additional responsibilities. Tod Wagenhals, who previously managed the company's Charlotte-based operations, has been named special assistant to the chairman.
In addition to his responsibilities as CFO, Husband will assume oversight of all corporate administration including human resources and information systems. Jacobs, who joined Action in July from The Coca-Cola Company, also will become chief marketing officer for Action and all of its domestic and international subsidiaries.
Volosin's responsibilities will expand to include management of all of the company's manufacturing, distribution, and sales efforts, including trackside, retail, and direct-to-consumer businesses. As special assistant to the chairman, Tod Wagenhals will assist the Office of the Chairman in relationship management and business development among partners, drivers, teams, and sanctioning bodies.
Husband, Jacobs, and Volosin will continue to report directly to Fred W. Wagenhals, chairman, president, and chief executive officer, Action Performance Companies. "I am very pleased to be able to announce this new management structure," Wagenhals said.
"By streamlining our organization and further empowering David Husband, Howard Jacobs and Melodee Volosin with additional functional responsibilities, we continue to take the steps necessary to better align our business units, integrate key resources, and further position Action to execute its business mission."
The company also announced that Christopher Besing and Lonnie Boutte, chief executive officer and president, respectively, of its Internet subsidiary goracing.com, are leaving the company. "goracing.com remains a key strategic initiative for the company," said Wagenhals.
"We will continue to build goracing.com as the premiere online meeting place for worldwide motorsports-related news, information and e-commerce." A team of senior goracing.com executives already in place will assume operational management of the company in coordination with senior Action executives.
