Federal-Mogul Time Capsules Capture Centennial Celebration
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Dec. 3 -- In celebration of its 100th
year, Federal-Mogul employees all over the world created time capsules as a
part of Federal-Mogul's ongoing Centennial Celebration. With over 300
Federal-Mogul locations worldwide, the time capsule project allowed each
location to actively participate in the company's centennial celebration.
    Nineteen locations have been chosen as finalists in a corporate sponsored
contest to honor the most creative and team involved time capsule. These
locations are: Ashland, Mississippi; Berkeley, Missouri; Blacksburg, Virginia;
Boyertown, Pennsylvania; Bridgwater, England; Chapel-en-le-Frith, England;
Malden, Missouri; Manitowoc, Wisconsin; Mondovi, Italy; Salisbury, North
Carolina; Schofield, Wisconsin; Scottsville, Kentucky; Skokie, Illinois;
Southfield, Michigan; Smithville, Tennessee; Summerton, South Carolina;
Toledo, Ohio; Van Wert, Ohio; and Weston, Florida.
    The grand prize winners will be selected by the Federal-Mogul Board of
Directors on Wednesday, December 8, 1999. The headquarters' time capsule team
has also chosen this date for their time capsule sealing ceremony which will
involve the Board of Directors and local dignitaries.
    "We are proud to be a part of a company that is 100 years old as we work
to continue the tradition of manufacturing mastery," said Dick Snell, chairman
and chief executive officer. "Constructing a time capsule is a wonderful way
to bring our employees, their families and our community together, to
recognize their contributions and celebrate the present."
    Employees, customers, retirees, children and community leaders have all
contributed to this exciting project and participated in sealing ceremonies
around the world. The time capsule gives present employees a chance to
preserve their place in history and will give future employees a glimpse into
the past when the time capsules are opened twenty-five years from now in 2024.
