BMW Reports Record November Sales With 22 Percent Increase
Year-to-Date Sales Jump 19 Percent, Surpassing Previous Annual Sales Records
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Dec. 2 -- BMW of North America, Inc.
reported record November sales of 13,422, an increase of 22 percent over the
11,006 automobiles sold last November. Year-to-date sales jumped 19 percent,
as BMW reported sales of 141,876 automobiles, compared to 119,398 for the same
period in 1998.
"This past month, BMW broke its previous annual sales record of 131,559
and is on track to end the year with all-time sales record," Tom Purves,
chairman and CEO of BMW US Holding Corp. explained.
November sales were up across every BMW model line, Purves noted.
Land Rover North America, Inc. reported its best November ever with an 18
percent boost in November sales with 2,247 vehicles sold, compared to 1,911
in 1998. Year-to-date sales increased 37 percent, to 26,073 vehicles. Land
Rover reported year-to-date sales of 19,068 a year ago.
Consolidated November sales for the BMW Group increased 21 percent to
15,669 (BMW: 13,422; Land Rover: 2,247) and consolidated year-to-date sales
also increased 21 percent to 167,949 vehicles (BMW: 141,876; Land Rover
26,073).
