Prestolite Wire Acquires Automotive Accessories Business

    HAMPTON, N.H.--Dec. 1, 1999--Prestolite Wire Corporation has acquired the Speed Clip division of Exide Corporation for approximately $6 million in cash plus the assumption of certain liabilities.
    Speed Clip, located in Bristol, Tenn., is an automotive aftermarket business that manufactures more than 2,700 products, including battery cables, booster cables and battery accessories. Prestolite Wire sees the addition of the Speed Clip product line as a core component of its growing aftermarket business.
