GE Capital Fleet Services Achieves $3 Million Per Day in Online Transactions
MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 30 -- In just five months since its initial
launch, GE Capital Fleet Services' web ordering application, located within
gefleet.com, now averages more than $3 million a day in online vehicle
ordering transactions. The number of transactions is expected to nearly
triple within the next six months.
"Currently, more than one-third of our customer base is using our online
ordering tool to conduct every aspect of the ordering process," said John
Schmitz, e-commerce product manager at GE Capital Fleet Services. "From
vehicle pricing and configuration, to manufacturer updates and upfits, to
complete online ordering for an entire fleet. Customers are quickly seeing
the value and we anticipate averaging more than $7 million in online
transactions by May 2000."
GE Capital Fleet Services' ordering tool is the most comprehensive vehicle
ordering application in the industry. With real-time access to manufacturer
options, prices, availability, etc., fleet managers have a virtual one-stop
shop for all their ordering needs. In addition, configuration rules are
automatically updated, flagging rs and giving fleet
managers real-time access to the most recent information on manufacturer
changes, build-out news, etc.
Another feature unique to the ordering tool is the direct link to
manufacturers, allowing customers to submit their orders directly to the
manufacturer -- saving both the customer and GE Capital valuable time and
money. The configuration tool used to build orders has up-to-the minute
manufacturer change notification, ensuring each and every order complies with
manufacturer requirements.
"The dynamic configuration of the ordering tool puts the decision power
directly in our customers' hands," Schmitz said. "Logic is built into the
system at every level, which guides every decision that is made. When
customers submit their orders to the manufacturer, they know it's accurate.
It's an e-business win for all parties involved."
