Selas Will Build Strip Line Section for Major German Steel Producer; $15 Million Plus Contract Is Third Major Steel Line Order for Selas in 1999
DRESHER, Pa., Nov. 30 -- Selas Corporation of America
(Amex: SLS) announced today that it has received an order valued in excess of
$15 million to produce the process section for a continuous steel galvanizing
line. It will be installed by Thyssen Krupp Stahl (TKS), Germany, at its
facility in Dortmund.
Stephen F. Ryan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Selas, said that
the TKS order is the third major steel line order the company has received in
1999.
"With the TKS order, we have added more than $37 million in new steel
line business during this year," Ryan said.
The TKS line will produce 400,000 tons per year of galvanized strip steel
and is scheduled to be completed in 2001. Selas S.A., one of the company's
French subsidiaries, will handle production of the Selas portion of the line.
"Because this project is scheduled for a 2001 completion, Selas will feel
most of the impact on revenues and earnings relating to this project during
the latter part of 2000 and early in 2001," Ryan said.
Selas is a diversified firm with international operations and sales that
engages in the design, development, engineering and manufacturing of a range
of products including precision medical and electronic products, heat
processing equipment and systems, and cable winch products.
