Mobil GO Card and Mobil Speedpass Make Great Stocking Stuffers for Last-Minute Holiday Shoppers

FAIRFAX, Va.--Nov. 30, 1999--Mobil is offering two stocking stuffers that promise to provide as much convenience and speed for harried holiday shoppers as they will deliver for the lucky recipients come Christmas morning - prepaid Mobil(R) GO Cards(TM) and Mobil(R) Speedpass(TM).
Last-minute Santas can shop right up to the holiday at any participating Mobil service station for Mobil GO Cards, credit card-size, prepaid gas cards that are available for $25, $50 or $100. The Mobil MCI GO Card is also available in these same denominations and can be used to charge long distance calls in addition to Mobil gasoline, service and convenience store items.
"For family members, friends, and office buddies the GO Card is a thoughtful and practical gift that they can use the whole year through," says Brian Baker, Mobil's president, North America Marketing and Refining. "Each time a GO Card is used for a purchase, the amount is subtracted from the card value, and the remaining balance is printed on the receipt. It's convenient and it's fast."
GO Cards can also be purchased by calling 1-800-730-TOGO. Mobil GO Cards ordered by phone take seven to 10 business days for delivery, they may not be redeemed for cash and expire after 18 months.
For those who have been very good this year, a Mobil Speedpass account charges the giver's pre-assigned credit card or check card and provides gasoline fill-ups. Motorists enrolled in the Speedpass program use a miniature electronic transponder attached to their key chain or affixed to the vehicle's rear window to buy gasoline without ever opening wallets or purses for credit cards or cash. An electronic system in the pump "talks" (communicates) with the transponders, giving drivers quick, simple access to gasoline by automatically charging fuel to a designated credit or check card.
"A gift of Speedpass is a perfect way for parents to pay for and track on the road expenses for teens or college students," says Baker. "Once enrolled in the electronic payment system, family members will enjoy added speed and convenience every time they fill up at a participating Mobil service station. And best of all, enrollment in the system is free!"
Shoppers can designate any of the wide range of credit or check cards that Mobil accepts when they enroll in the Speedpass program. There is no cost for the Speedpass transponder and no service charge for using the new technology to fill up. Once enrolled, the Speedpass transponder will arrive in approximately 10 business days.
Introduced in 1997, the Mobil Speedpass program is already being used by over 3.5 million people. Additionally, Mobil will soon make Speedpass available inside many of its stores so convenience store items can be bought using Speedpass.

(For convenience, the term "Mobil" is sometimes used in this release as an abbreviated reference to Mobil Corporation and/or one or more of its affiliates.)
