Guide Corporation Achieves Y2K Ready Status, Meets AIAG Year 2000 Requirements for Tier One Automotive Suppliers
Systems 99.9 Percent Ready for New Century

ANDERSON, Ind., Nov. 29 -- Guide Corporation announced today
that it has achieved Y2K ready status for its manufacturing operations in
Indiana and Louisiana, as well as for its engineering, infrastructure, and
business systems.
Jim Johnson, vice president and chief information officer, added that 99.9
percent of Guide Corporation's systems are Y2K ready. "The remaining one-tenth
of one percent is composed of extremely low-risk devices that will be replaced
over the next several months," Johnson explained. "Every critical system in
our operations is now Y2K ready."
Guide Corporation's Y2K readiness status has also met the guidelines
established by the Automotive Industry Action Group Year 2000 (AIAG)
requirements for Tier One suppliers to automobile and truck manufacturers. The
AIAG consists of 1,600 companies, which represent the North American vehicle
and heavy-equipment manufacturing and supplier market, including
DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors, Toyota North America and Volvo.
Johnson said that Guide Corporation's Y2K readiness status gives its
entire operations a "green" assessment label. Y2K readiness, he pointed out,
means the company has achieved a high confidence level of its ability to
minimize interruptions in its normal business applications on January 1, 2000.
A yellow assessment means a company needs to pay extra attention to its Y2K
plans, while a red signifies a high risk of service disruption at the turn of
the century.
Nearly 3,200 systems were involved in Guide's Y2K readiness preparations.
Johnson said they include plant floor computers, engineering design computers
and systems, as well as business applications systems such as accounting,
payroll and order processing.
During 1999 Guide Corporation replaced its infrastructure including
personal computers, local and wide-area networks, and voice network.
While he expects no major business disruptions as the New Year rolls in,
Johnson has prepared a back-up contingency plan. Guide Corporation will have a
computer "SWAT Team" on site and ready at 11:00 PM on Dec. 31 to handle any
emergency situations that may arise.
Guide Corporation is an independent Tier One exterior automotive lighting
systems supplier to automobile and truck manufacturers worldwide. Currently
headquartered in Anderson, Ind., the company is building a new Engineering and
Customer Center in Pendleton, Ind.
Guide has plants in Anderson, Ind., and Monroe, La., and a new facility
