E. L. Viars, President - Arvin Replacement Products Announces Retirement
COLUMBUS, Ind.--Nov. 29, 1999--V. William Hunt, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Arvin Industries, Inc. , announced today that E. Leon Viars, President of the Arvin Replacement Products Business Group (ARP), will retire effective December 1, 1999.Leon joined the then Maremont Corporation in 1969. During his thirty year career, he has progressed through positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of finance, sales and marketing, distribution, manufacturing, and general management culminating in his leadership of our worldwide replacement products group.
In announcing Leon's retirement, Bill Hunt recognized his many years of invaluable service. "We at Arvin owe Leon an enormous debt of gratitude for his commitment to our company from the acquisition of Maremont in 1986 through his leadership in building our very successful worldwide Arvin Replacement Products Business Group. We wish Leon and his family all the best in the years to come."
Bill Hunt also noted that Leon has agreed to assist Arvin in a consulting capacity over the next two years as he adjusts to his retirement. Leon will be Senior Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer. In that capacity he will handle key strategic projects for both Bill Hunt and his successor, Dan Daniel, in the ARP Business Group.
