MARGI Supplies Auto-DVD Solution for PIONEER's Automobile DVD GPS System for the Japanese Market

    FREMONT, Calif.--Nov. 29, 1999--MARGI Systems announced that its DVD-to-Go for the automobile DVD market is now shipping with the Pioneer Carrozzeria automobile GPS navigation system.
    DVD-to-Go will provide users in Japan of the Pioneer GPS system a "Total Personal Movie Experience" in the automobile.
    DVD-to-Go is a PC Card that decodes full color, full-motion video (30 fps) and Dolby Digital Surround Sound. DVD-to-Go pioneers the concept of DVD on automobile, allowing Pioneer Carrozzeria users to reap the benefits of high quality DVD playback. DVD-to-Go offers a solution to play MPEG-2 video, audio and CSS encrypted media.

    The Carrozzeria system upgrades to DVD capability using the MARGI DVD-to-Go, and displays in an ergonomically designed personal full-color liquid crystal display panel which fits snugly on the dashboard of the automobile. A remote control unit is included for DVD navigation modes (e.g. Play, Pause, Fast-forward, Rewind).
    The key ingredient in this solution is the MARGI Universal DVD Navigation Software Stack. This DVD Navigation Stack uses layered architecture allowing rapid portability to ANY hardware and software platform including embedded RTOS and Microsoft operating systems. The complete DVD Navigation specification has been implemented in the real-time operating system (RTOS) environment. The software includes graphical user Interface (GUI) for PC applications and On-Screen Display (OSD) for embedded applications.

DVD-to-Go is currently shipping with most major notebook manufacturers. Other benefits using DVD-to-Go include high performance video resolution at 720 x 480 NTSC or 720 x 576 PAL (16 million colors), TV-out, MPEG-1 compatibility, sharp slow motion, freeze-frame video and a multiple camera angle option. It is easy to use and allows for efficient multitasking capability due to low CPU usage. In addition, the same DVD-to-Go card can be used in more than one notebook DVD-to-Go has driver support for Microsoft operating systems as well including Windows 2000, NT 4.0, 95 and 98. DVD-to-Go's GUI application layer interface is supported for the DVD Navigator (Player), Video CD 2.0 and multiple zoomed video notebooks. The DVD-to-Go card can be connected directly to a T.V. for larger audiences and includes a 5.1 channel Dolby Surround Sound(TM) audio connector.
