ADVISORY/Advocacy Group Releases List of Traffic Trouble Spots
--Nov. 23, 1999--TOPIC:The American Highway Users Alliance today announced the nation's 18 worst traffic bottlenecks. Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. led the pack with 4 finalists each, and Atlanta was runner-up with 3 locations mentioned. The advocacy group recommends fighting traffic congestion by increasing highway capacity, promoting share-a-ride programs, and funding high-tech traffic routing systems. It also notes that traffic accidents, pollution and commuting times could be greatly reduced by eliminating the nation's bottlenecks.
