Auto Maker Orders SWIFT Systems for Light Truck Testing From MTS
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., Nov. 22 -- MTS Systems Corporation
announced today that it has received a $1.8 million order for
Spinning Wheel Integrated Force Transducers (SWIFT(TM)) from a Detroit based
global vehicle manufacturer. The SWIFT products will be used by their product
development group for data acquisition and laboratory simulation testing of
light trucks and sport utility vehicles.
The patented, award winning (R&D Magazine's 1999 Top 100 Technological
Achievements) SWIFT product cuts months out of the vehicle development and
testing process by reducing test set up and data acquisition time, and
provides superior data for crucial laboratory fatigue and durability
simulation testing. It is also ideally suited for use with Effective Road
Profile Control (ERPC(TM)), a new MTS software program that further reduces
data acquisition activities early in vehicle development.
MTS provides three versions of the SWIFT wheel force transducer for a wide
range of cars and trucks. Versions are available in aluminum and titanium, the
latter employed for more robust applications.
MTS Systems Corporation manufactures computer-based testing and simulation
systems for determining the mechanical behavior of materials, products and
structures, and measurement and control instrumentation products for the
automation of manufacturing processes. The Company had revenues of
$362 million and earnings of $1.01 per share in fiscal year ending in
September 1998. These numbers reflect the consolidated results with DSP
Technology, Inc. which was acquired by a pooling of interest.
