I-Sim Awarded Second Driving Simulator Contract For National Tractor Trailer SchoolSALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 22 -- I-Sim Corporation, a leading developer and manufacturer of driving-simulation equipment, today announced it has sold a second TranSim(TM) simulator to National Tractor Trailer School (NTTS), based in Buffalo, New York and Liverpool, New York. NTTS ordered its first TranSim simulator in June 1999 to facilitate advanced classroom and on-the-road training at its school in Liverpool. The second simulator arrived at the school in Buffalo in October 1999. "We ordered the second I-Sim simulator because we were so pleased with the performance of the first TranSim," said Harry Kowalchyk, president of NTTS. "We have noticed our students, especially those without the benefit of standard transmission experience, adapting more quickly to real-life driving experiences after training with the TranSim." The TranSim simulator teaches new and experienced drivers the proper way to shift a variety of transmissions over a wide range of grades while pulling an assortment of loads. The TranSim allows a trainer to simulate more than 140 transmissions and over 280 different engines from a variety of manufacturers. In addition, the simulator provides instantaneous miles-per-gallon feedback to drivers and trainers, helping them improve fuel economy through better shifting. Not only can drivers monitor shifting improvement through the TranSim, but they can determine their corresponding fuel savings. Such savings can amount to $40,000 to $100,000 per 100 drivers each year. "Results indicate the TranSim enhances shifting skills and fuel efficiency, while providing students with supplemental driving experience," said Reginald Welles, president and CEO of I-Sim. "The TranSim gives students a chance to experience the technical shifting process of truck driving before encountering real-life experiences on the road with a loaded truck." Founded in 1971, NTTS is dedicated to training and placing qualified individuals into entry-level positions as heavy truck and tractor trailer drivers. Through the years, the school has provided courses to approximately 12,000 students, at both entry and experienced levels. Courses include classroom, manual simulator and on-the-road experience. NTTS is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology and has courses certified by the Professional Truck Driving Institute of America.
