The Budd Company Names New ExecutivesTROY, Mich., Nov. 22 -- The Budd Company today announced the appointment of Albert F. Kovach as President and Chief Operating Officer. Kovach replaces David P. Williams, who has been appointed Vice Chairman of company's Board of Directors. The announcement was made by Siegfried Buschmann, Chairman and CEO of The Budd Company. The announced appointments are effective January 1, 2000. Kovach, presently Corporate Vice President and President of Budd Stamping and Frame Division, will be replaced by Toralf (Tony) A. Haag, presently Director of Corporate Development. Replacing Haag is Marion Helmes who will transfer from Budd's parent company, Thyssen Krupp AG in Dusseldorf, Germany where she is presently Senior Project Manager in the company's Mergers and Acquisitions Department. Ms. Helmes will relocate to Michigan early next year. The company also announced that Robert J. Wangbichler, Vice President - Employee Relations, will retire at the end of the year after 40 years of service to the company. Wangbichler will be replaced by William M. Kroger Jr. Kroger is presently Director of Labor Relations for The Budd Company. "The Budd Company must have a solid management foundation as we enter the new millennium," said Siegfried Buschmann, Budd's Chairman and CEO. "These new appointments will certainly bring together the talent and resources we need to grow our company." Budd, headquartered in Troy, Mich., produces components such as doors, fenders, roofs, hoods, and decklids in sheet metal as well as in sheet molded composite (SMC), and gray iron and ductile iron castings for about 100 current vehicle models. Budd also makes prototypes, chassis frames and subframes, bumpers and bumper reinforcements, cold weather starting and heating products, and air bag components for the automotive industry. Budd is part of ThyssenKrupp Automotive, a $5.4 billion supplier providing body systems, chassis & suspension parts and powertrain components to the automotive industry worldwide. Budd operates 32 facilities with more than 10,000 employees in North America. In addition, the company has offices in Stuttgart, Germany, and Tokyo, Japan.
