Cooper Announces Corporate Appointments
FINDLAY, Ohio--Nov. 19, 1999--COOPER TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY today announced the appointment of Stephen O. Schroeder to the position of treasurer, replacing William C. Hattendorf who will retire at year end. Other related announcements include the appointment of Kathleen L. Diller and Richard N. Jacobson to the newly created positions of assistant corporate secretary/assistant general counsel. Also, Charles F. Nagy will assume the position of assistant treasurer.Steve Schroeder joined Cooper in 1981 in the position of corporate tax accountant. Since 1984 he has managed cash and employee funds, being named to the position of assistant treasurer in 1994. His background includes a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Dayton. Prior to joining Cooper, he served the State of Ohio in tax and unemployment compensation administration. Schroeder is active in the Financial Executives Institute and Treasury Management Association and has served on the budget review committee of the United Way of Hancock County.
William C. Hattendorf, a 36-year employee, joined the company as a tax accountant and served in various management positions before being elected treasurer in 1982. In 1994, he was elected a vice president of the corporation. A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Hattendorf was also an auditor with Arthur Young & Company before joining Cooper. Hattendorf has been active in various professional and civic groups including membership in the Financial Executives Institute, Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) and past trustee of the United Way of Hancock County.
Kathleen L. Diller joined Cooper as associate counsel in 1998. Prior to that she held the position of senior counsel for Owens Corning, Toledo, Ohio. Diller received her undergraduate degree from Defiance College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo, College of Law. She is a member of the American Bar Association and American Corporate Counsel Association.
Richard N. Jacobson joined Cooper earlier in November after spending the past three years as General Counsel and Secretary of The Standard Products Company which Cooper acquired on October 27, 1999. His prior experience includes ten years as senior corporate counsel with a manufacturer of rubber products. Jacobson received his undergraduate degree from Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut, and his law degree from Boston University School of Law.
Charles F. Nagy joins Cooper from The Standard Products Company where he had been treasurer since 1992. Prior to joining Standard he also spent eleven years in various treasury positions with another tire company. At Cooper he will assist the treasurer in management of Cooper's worldwide treasury operations, financing activities, risk management and pension, thrift and profit sharing plans. Nagy, a non-practicing Certified Public Accountant, earned his bachelors and master's degrees in Finance from the University of Toledo. He is a member of the Financial Executives Institute and the National Association of Corporate Treasurers.
