International Speedway Corporation Announces Strong Attendance for Inaugural NASCAR Winston Cup Weekend At Homestead-Miami Speedway
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.--November 18, 1999-- International Speedway Corporation ("ISC") today announced strong attendance for the NASCAR Winston Cup Series Pennzoil 400 Presented by Kmart, and the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division HotWheels.com Miami 300 events held November 13th and 14th at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The Pennzoil 400 marked the inaugural NASCAR Winston Cup event at the facility and NBC's first broadcast of a Winston Cup event. The speedway hosted near capacity crowds for both Saturday's and Sunday's events as multi-day ticket packages were offered for all of the facility's approximately 72,000 grandstand seats.William C. France, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of International Speedway Corporation, commented, "This past weekend marked the first major motorsports events hosted in the Miami market since ISC doubled its ownership to 90 percent in the facility, following our merger with Penske Motorsports. The sale of multi-day ticket packages assured the fans excellent seats for both our Busch and Winston Cup events. Demand for the ticket package was strong, as evidenced by the speedway's packed grandstands for both events. The near capacity crowds, combined with exciting motorsports competition and beautiful Miami weather, proved to be a perfect ending to a thrilling NASCAR season at our facilities."
