DaimlerChrysler VP Honored with National Eagle Leadership Institute Award

DaimlerChrysler Vice President Honored with Distinguished National Eagle Leadership Institute Award
    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 17 -- William F. Jones, Jr., Vice
President-Manufacturing Operations Finance for DaimlerChrysler ,
was recently honored at the Seventh Annual Eagle Awards of the National Eagle
Leadership Institute (NELI) for his proven leadership in the African American
community.
    Jones received NELI's distinguished 1999 Eagle Award at a gala in New
York.  Eagle awards are presented annually to an elite number of the nation's
most culturally diverse professionals for committing beyond standards in their
career and community.
    "This is a great honor to receive an award from such a dedicated and
supportive organization," Jones said.  "I am also grateful for having the
opportunities to give back to the community that has helped me advance to the
leadership role I maintain today."
    In 1981, Jones began working for the former Chrysler Corporation as a
Financial Analyst.  During his years of service, he has become a respected
member of senior management, a role model and a mentor for other employees.
He has also dedicated his time and energy toward the goal of diversity and
understanding in the workplace.  He is a founding member of the
DaimlerChrysler African American Network (DCAAN).
    In addition to DaimlerChrysler, Jones has worked for Nissan, W.R. Grace
and Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.  He earned a bachelor's degree in
psychology and an MBA, both from Columbia University.
    Based in Kansas City, Mo., NELI serves as a prestigious and effective
avenue through which corporations can recognize the achievements of culturally
diverse professionals who contribute to the bottom-line success of their
organization.  Membership is comprised of men and women who personify everyday
heroes.
