Ford's 1999 U.S. Sales Top Three MillionEarliest Date Ever for America's Top Selling Brand of Cars and Trucks DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 17 -- Ford sales of new cars and trucks yesterday surpassed the three million mark in the U.S. It was the earliest date ever that Ford, America's top selling brand of cars and trucks, had reached that milestone. Ford has been America's No. 1 selling brand of cars and trucks for 13 years in a row and sales for the venerable American brand have topped three million in each of the last six years. Ford's F-Series pickup has been America's top selling vehicle for 18 years in row. "The entire Ford team is very appreciative of the trust that American car and truck buyers have placed in our brand and our products," said James G. O'Connor, President, Ford Division. "We're proud that the brand founded by Henry Ford at the beginning of this century has endured all these years and is poised to begin the next century with the strongest line of products in its history." Ford recently introduced two new products, the Ford Excursion sport utility vehicle and the Ford Focus small car, to its line of best-selling products. This month, the 2000 Ford Taurus will debut in Ford dealer showrooms. In the first quarter of 2000, three new "segment busting" products will debut: the F-150 SuperCrew, recently voted the Texas Truck of the Year at the Texas Truck Rodeo, the Explorer Sport, and the Explorer Sport Trac.
