Green Car Journal Earns Top Automotive Media Honors
ATLANTA, Nov. 16 -- Green Car Journal, a leading auto
industry publication, was honored with eight awards, including Best of
Division, at this month's 1999 International Automotive Media Conference
(IAMC).
"The recognition of our work at Green Car Journal by the leading
automotive industry media conference overwhelmed us," said the newsletter's
editor/publisher, Ron Cogan, in Atlanta this week to speak about the future of
electric vehicles at the North American Electric Vehicle and Infrastructure
Conference. "It was heartening to see this kind of attention devoted to an
effort that focuses exclusively on environmental issues within the auto
industry."
Cogan started publishing the newsletter in 1992 after 18 years of writing
and editing at major auto magazines, including Motor Trend. Green Car Journal
is now sent to subscribers in 17 countries and is part of Green Car Group, a
marketing and publishing company founded by Cogan.
Sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, Buick Motor Division, the Imperial Palace, and
others, the IAMC is the premier annual venue for recognizing outstanding
achievements in automotive journalism. It was held in Las Vegas in
conjunction with extensive Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week events.
First place Moto(TM) Awards were garnered by Green Car Journal in the Road
Test, Introduction of New Models, and News categories in the newsletter
division. IAMC Medallions of Excellence were also awarded to Green Car
Journal for Best Single Issue (silver), Feature Article (silver),
Environmental/Regulatory (silver) and Editorial (bronze).
Additionally, Green Car Group received a silver medallion for its
Alternative Fuel Vehicle Reference Guide CD-ROM produced for General Motors
Advanced Technology Vehicles; a silver medallion for its Rush Hauer(R) natural
gas vehicle talk radio audiocassette promotion for Volvo Cars North America;
and a bronze medallion for its Clean Fuel Vehicles special section produced
for Motor Trend magazine.
Green Car Group's activities include publishing the Green Car Journal
industry newsletter, consulting and marketing/public relations/advertising
through Green Car Marketing, and educational outreach through the nonprofit
Green Car Institute.
Company executives at Green Car Marketing have been involved in new model
long leads, line-off ceremonies, dealer meetings, conferences, and other
environment-related media events and programs. The firm's specialized,
environmental focus is a perfect fit for companies seeking to enhance their
marketing efforts and environmental programs.
