Lexus Surpasses Its Record-Setting 1998 Sales
TORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 15 -- Lexus' year-long sales momentum
continues as the company has surpassed its 1998 record of 156,260.
"Just a couple of years ago, we were striving to break annual sales of
100,000 units," said Bryan Bergsteinsson, Lexus group vice president and
general manager. "And the best part is that we're breaking sales record after
sales record while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and
quality."
The hot-selling RX 300 mid-size luxury sport utility vehicle continues to
be the division's volume leader with year-to-date sales of more than 60,000
units, comprising nearly 40 percent of Lexus' total sales. Overall, RX 300
sales are up approximately 80 percent from 1998. The GS 300 high-performance
sports sedan also is contributing to Lexus' tremendous sales growth with
approximately 21,000 units sold this year, up more than 20 percent from last
year.
Lexus expects to sell more than 175,000 cars and sport utility vehicles in
1999.
