Autoliv Expands Operations in Japan; Japan Technical Center Opens Its Doors
TOKYO, Nov. 15 -- Autoliv Inc. , the
worldwide leader in automotive safety systems, celebrates the latest addition
to its advanced crash test capabilities by inaugurating the Japan Technical
Center (JTC) in Tsukuba, Japan. Just north of Tokyo, the JTC features a highly
advanced sled track for both frontal and side impact testing in speeds up to
50 mph as well as several test rooms for electronics, airbags and seat belts.
The center also includes a machine shop and additional customer support
functions allowing us to tailor a test program specific to the needs of the
customer, offering a timely and cost-effective method for achieving optimal
vehicle safety.
Autoliv's facility is one of the most advanced of its kind in Japan.
Similar to Autoliv's other 19 test tracks in eight countries, the Japan
Technical Center will not only be used for Autoliv's own research and
development but will also provide sled test expertise to vehicle
manufacturers, component producers, independent safety agencies and other
external parties.
"With the addition of this new facility we are now able to provide
complete systems design, testing and integration to our Japanese customers
worldwide," said Curt Sorensen, President of Autoliv Japan. "This center
allows us to combine leading-edge technology with value-driven engineering,
creating a global network which is unparalleled in the industry."
Autoliv Inc. develops and manufacturers automotive safety systems for all
major manufacturers in the world. The company has 60 wholly owned subsidiaries
