Ford Elects Robert Rubin to Board Of Directors
    DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 11 -- Robert E. Rubin, former U.S.
Secretary of the Treasury, has been elected to the Board of Directors of Ford
Motor Company , William Clay Ford, Jr., chairman of the board,
announced today.
    "Adding someone of Bob Rubin's international stature, reputation and
expertise brings tremendous strength to the company, its board of directors
and our shareholders," Ford said.  "His global perspective, knowledge and
credibility with international leaders are a perfect fit with the vision we
have for Ford Motor Company."
    "Ford is a truly great company with tremendous strengths around the
world," Rubin added.  "I am looking forward to working with the board as we
move into the next century."
    Rubin recently joined the office of the Chairman of Citigroup Inc. and was
named chairman of the executive committee there.  Rubin spent 26 years at
Goldman, Sachs & Co. and served as co-chairman from 1990 to 1992 before
joining the federal government in 1993.  He led President Clinton's National
Economic Council before being named Secretary of the Treasury in 1995, a
position he held until he stepped down in July of this year.
    Rubin's appointment, which is effective Jan. 1, 2000, brings the Ford
board membership to 12.  This is the first appointment of a board member since
William Clay Ford, Jr. became chairman on Jan. 1 of this year.
