The new design is part of a larger system to create a family look to our product offering that emphasizes the Timken brand and is more easily recognizable in the marketplace," said Robert L. Leibensperger, executive vice president, chief operating officer and president - bearings. "As The Timken Company enters its second century in business, this move also gives us the opportunity to have our presentation in the marketplace better reflect the innovative, highly engineered nature of our products." The new design builds on the familiar elements of the previous packaging including the black and orange color combination and the prominent Timken logo. It now also offers a more modern look that can accommodate sub-branding. "More consistency in the packaging of our many product lines reinforces the quality standard that is behind every Timken-branded product. If a product is marked Timken, our customers can be sure that it meets our rigorous quality and performance standards no matter what the product or where in the world it is manufactured," said Mr. Leibensperger. The Timken Company ( http://www.timken.com ) is a leading international manufacturer of highly engineered bearings and alloy steels with operations in 25 countries. The company employs 21,000 people worldwide and reported 1998 sales of more than U.S. $2.6 billion.
