Exide and Tractor Supply Co. Initiate Sales Agreement
    READING, Pa., Nov. 8 -- Exide Corporation , the
global leader in the lead-acid battery business, announced today that it has
reached an agreement with Tractor Supply Co., of Nashville, TN, to begin
supplying them as many as 275,000 batteries per year, beginning January 1,
2000.
    Nick Stratigeas, executive vice president for sales and marketing, North
America, said, "We are pleased to begin sales through Tractor Supply Co. and
we are sure their customers will appreciate Exide quality."
    The companies expect battery sales to be large comprised by automotive,
including Exide's Orbital Select and NASCAR Select brands, as well as lawn and
garden units.
