Delphi Formalizes Supply Relationship with Harley-Davidson Motor Company through Signing of Master Supply AgreementTROY, Mich., Nov. 5 -- Delphi Automotive Systems has been selected to supply electronics systems to Harley-Davidson Motor Company . Delphi Delco Electronics Systems today signed a master supply agreement to provide Harley-Davidson with several Delphi technologies. The Harley-Davidson master supply agreement signifies commitment from both parties for a mutually beneficial supply relationship. The supply agreement includes speedometers, tachometers, manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensors, ignition coils, cruise control and a variety of components from several Delphi divisions. "Our business with Harley-Davidson is another example of Delphi's expansion in non-automotive markets," said David B. Wohleen, president of Delphi Delco Electronics Systems. "We are pleased to work with this esteemed company that has an extraordinary track record and excellent reputation." The speedometer assembly first appeared on the Harley-Davidson Sportster in 1998 and currently Delphi instrument assemblies appear on all 2000 models. The instrument assemblies include four- and five-inch speedometers, a four- inch tachometer and various warning light displays (turn signals, oil light, neutral and high beam). Delphi Delco Electronics Systems instruments feature microprocessor-controlled stepper motor mechanisms, light emitting diode (LED) backlighting, on-board diagnostics and anti-fog lenses. A Delphi MAP sensor is featured on ignition systems for the "Big Twin" bikes. Delphi Energy & Engine Management Systems supplies a cruise control product and an ignition coil which features dual plugs per cylinder.
