DaimlerChrysler and Pfizer Sign Agreements to Develop Wink Enhanced, Interactive TV Commercials
Auto and Pharmaceutical Industries Taking Advantage of Interactive TV
                                 Advertising

ALAMEDA, Calif., Nov. 2 -- Wink Communications Inc.
has signed agreements with two of America's top advertisers to
enable interactive e-commerce on TV commercials.
Leading auto manufacturer DaimlerChrysler and the research-based
pharmaceutical pioneer Pfizer have signed agreements with Wink to develop and
broadcast Wink enhancements featuring e-commerce or lead generation with their
TV commercials. Wink enhanced advertisements allows viewers, with the click
of their remote control, to request coupons, free product samples, enter
contests, answer surveys, and even make purchases. The deals were announced
today by Maggie Wilderotter, President and CEO, Wink Communications, Inc.
Wink's technology is a win-win proposition for both consumers and
marketers. Wink gives consumers the ability to request product information
with a simple click of the remote, while marketers are given another channel
to initiate and continue timely communications with potential customers," said
Betty Jeffrey, Advertising/Media Operations Manager, DaimlerChrysler.
Pfizer said that it has always been interested in exploring new and
innovative ways to reach and inform consumers about Pfizer products. Pfizer
added that Wink's on-screen interactive technology and response network appear
to provide a broad range of opportunities to investigate this new form of
enhanced television advertising.
"Wink is very pleased to add DaimlerChrysler and Pfizer to our growing
list of major advertisers. As leading companies in two industries, their use
of Wink technology signifies the emerging role that enhanced broadcasting and
e-commerce will play in the future of advertising," said Maggie Wilderotter.
The Wink Enhanced Broadcasting System allows advertisers and networks to
create interactive enhancements while accompanying traditional television
programs and advertisements. By clicking the Wink remote control during an
enhanced advertisement, the viewer receives product samples, coupons, and can
make purchases instantly. Viewers can also take part in surveys and contests.
Wink differs from Internet access on television, in that it enhances existing
TV programs, sporting events and commercials.
Wink's technology enables advertisers to enhance TV commercials with
interactive overlays that appear as supplemental text and graphics on the TV
screen that relate to the existing advertisement. When Wink is available to a
television viewer, a small symbol appears on the viewer's TV screen,
indicating that the commercial is Wink enhanced. The viewer can choose to
interact with the advertisement by using his or her existing remote control.
Wink is free to the user, requiring no infrastructure upgrades or additional
hardware in the home for viewers with Wink enabled advanced analog and/or
digital cable boxes.
Wink also has agreements with other major advertisers including
Charles Schwab, Goodyear, Ford Motors, Clorox, Wells Fargo, Levi Strauss,
Universal Pictures, General Electric and Paramount Pictures.
