Nissan Announces October Sales
- Truck and Maxima Sales Drive 30.5 Percent Sales Increase -
CARSON, Calif., Nov. 2 -- Continued strong truck sales and
growing sedan sales led Nissan Division of Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) to
report October sales of 51,408 units, an increase of 30.5 percent over last
year. Some of Nissan's sales highlights for the month of October include:
-- Total Frontier sales were 9,688 units, with Crew Cab contributing 39
percent to total Frontier sales.
-- Nissan truck sales, bolstered by Xterra and Pathfinder, rose 65.9
percent over October 1998, totaling 25,166 units.
-- With sales of 7,516 units, Xterra was up 9.9 percent over last month.
Up 1.3 percent versus last year, Pathfinder posted sales of 4,820
units.
-- Fueled by the introduction of the new 2000 model, Quest sales totaled
3,142 units, up 61.8 percent over last year.
-- Total sedan sales of 26,231 were driven by the all-new 2000 Nissan
Maxima, which turned in sales of 12,564 units, up 144.4 percent over
last year.
-- Altima reported sales of 9,007 units, and Sentra reported sales of
4,660 units.
-- Importantly, 80 percent of October sales were 2000 model year
vehicles.
Combined sales calendar-year-to-date for Nissan and Infiniti Divisions for
October totaled 58,513 units, up 27.6 percent versus last year. Combined
sales for the calendar year totaled 565,873 units, up 8.7 percent versus last
year. Sales of Nissan Division's North American-produced vehicles totaled
34,020 units for October, which accounted for 66.2 percent of Nissan's total
sales volume.
In North America, Nissan's operations include styling, engineering,
consumer and corporate financing, sales and marketing, distribution and
