BMW Reports Record October Sales With 15 Percent Increase; Year-To-Date Sales Jump 19 Percent
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Nov. 2 -- BMW of North America, Inc.
reported record October sales of 12,146, an increase of 15 percent over the
10,584 sold last October. Year-to-date sales jumped 19 percent, as BMW
reported sales of 128,454 automobiles, compared to 108,392 for the same period
in 1998.
BMW's 3 Series sales continued to set the pace, with an increase of
45 percent, as demand remained strong for the new 2000 model year 3 Series
sedans and coupes.
Land Rover North America, Inc. reported a 51 percent boost in October
sales with a record-breaking 3,089 vehicles sold, compared to 2,052 in 1998.
Year-to-date sales increased 39 percent, to 23,826 vehicles. Land Rover
reported year-to-date sales of 17,157 a year ago.
Consolidated October sales for the BMW Group increased 21 percent to
15,235 (BMW: 12,146; Land Rover: 3,089) and consolidated year-to-date sales
also increased 21 percent to 152,280 vehicles (BMW: 128,454; Land Rover
23,826).
