Mitsubishi Motors' Reports Best-Ever October Sales Results

    Company's Year-To-Date Sales Total Surpasses All of 1998, Led by Large
               Increases for Eclipse, Galant and Montero Sport

    CYPRESS, Calif., Nov. 2 -- October 1999 sales for Mitsubishi
Motors Sales of America, Inc. (MMSA) totaled 24,489 units, putting the
company's year-to-date sales total at 205,869.  The monthly sales total, an
increase of 36.6% over the prior year, makes this the best ever October for
Mitsubishi Motors in the U.S.

    Figures to note:

    --  1999 Year-to-date sales of 205,869 for MMSA are up 25.3% over the
        prior year
    --  A strong launch for the all-new 2000 model led Eclipse sport coupe
        sales to 5,464, an increase of 76% and its best sales month ever
    --  Galant mid-size sedan sales for October also recorded its second best
        ever numbers, totaling a 64.5% increase to 7,702 units
    --  MMSA reported a 34.4% increase in sales for Montero Sport mid-size
        SUV, totaling 4,985 units and the second best ever sales month
    --  On October 19, MMSA exceeded its total 1998 sales of 191,515

    "The increased awareness and value of the Mitsubishi Motors brand is
obvious as our sales increases are substantially exceeding overall industry
growth," said Pierre Gagnon, executive vice president and chief operating
officer for MMSA.  "Exceeding our 1998 sales in only ten months in 1999 plus
having our best October ever indicate how aggressively we are meeting the
needs of the American consumer."
    Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc. was established in 1982 by
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Tokyo, and markets a full line of vehicles,
including coupes, convertibles, sedans and sport utility vehicles.
