Saab's Year-to-Date Sales Up 39.4 Percent; October 1999 Is Best Sales Month Ever for Saab 9-5 Wagon
NORCROSS, Ga., Nov. 2 -- Saab Cars USA, Inc., the U.S.
importer and distributor of Saab 9-3 and 9-5 automobiles, announced sales of
2,627 units during October 1999, a 2.5 percent increase over October 1998
sales (2,562 units). Year-to-date, Saab is enjoying continued strong sales
momentum. With year-to-date sales of 34,121 units, Saab sales are up
39.4 percent over the same period in 1998 (24,482).
"October was a great month for us in many ways," said John Orth, Vice
President of Sales and Marketing for Saab Cars USA, Inc. "We nearly sold out
of 1999 models and began retailing some 2000 cars. It was a very smooth
transition and leaves us poised to continue our sales momentum with our
enhanced 2000 model line."
Sales of the Saab 9-5 Sedan and Wagon models remained very strong with a
total of 1,933 units retailed during October -- the highest U.S. sales month
ever for the 9-5 platform. The 9-5 Wagon accounted for 825 units -- which is
its largest sales month to date. The 9-5 Wagon combines Saab's world-class
performance and safety attributes with real-world versatility features like
CargoTracks(TM), an available sliding load floor and nearly 73 cubic feet of
cargo room with the rear seats folded down.
For 2000, Saab continues to advance its model line with new performance
variants like the 9-5 Aero and 9-3 Viggen 5-door and Convertible models, and
adds a number of performance-related enhancements across the entire line.

Saab Cars USA, Inc. is headquartered in Norcross, GA, near Atlanta.
