UAW, Ford Sign Four-Year Labor ContractDEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 1 -- The International Union, UAW and Ford Motor Company today signed a new four-year national labor agreement. Those attending the signing ceremony included: UAW President Stephen P. Yokich; UAW Vice President Ron Gettelfinger, who heads the union's Ford Department; Ford Chairman Bill Ford; Ford President and CEO Jac Nasser; Ford Vice Chairman and Chief of Staff Peter J. Pestillo; David Murphy, vice president, Human Resources; and Bob Marcin, Ford's executive director, Labor Affairs, who is the company's chief labor negotiator. "This agreement provides a solid framework to continue our constructive relationship with Ford in the years ahead," Yokich said. "I am confident," Gettelfinger said, "that this contract will provide UAW active and retired workers and their families with unprecedented job and economic security." "I'm proud of the hard work of both teams," Ford said. "We've always been a different kind of company. We've taken care of our people." "The spirit of both sides was aimed at making Ford Motor Company a stronger company as we approach the next century," Nasser said. The signing took place at Ford World Headquarters. The national negotiating teams from the UAW and Ford also attended.
