Honda Makes Hot Cars Sizzle at Annual SEMA ShowAmerican Honda Displays Tricked-Out Honda and Acura Vehicles and CART Driver Paul Tracy Signs Autographs TORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 1 -- The first-ever American Honda exhibit at the annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas will feature a parts and accessories display and tricked-out Acura and Honda products. In addition, to celebrate Honda's 1999 Manufacturer's Title in the CART FedEx Championship Series, Honda will display the Champ car driven by 1999 PPG Cup Championship Contender and Rookie of the Year Juan Montoya. Honda-powered CART driver Paul Tracy will also be at SEMA for an autograph session on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. The trio of tricked-out Honda rides is led off by the hot, new Honda S2000 roadster that features an underbody spoiler kit, aero screen, titanium shift knob and interior upgrades. These vehicles are equipped with genuine Honda and Acura parts and accessories as well as quality aftermarket components. A modified Acura 3.2TL carries custom wheels, performance tires, front and rear under body spoilers and an enhanced exhaust system. Adding to the TL's already sporty appearance is a lowered suspension package, which includes performance springs, stabilizer bars, shocks and struts. The interior features the DVD-based Acura Navigation System and two additional rear seat LCD video screens linked to a video disc DVD system and a Sony PlayStation. One of the favorite vehicles of current generation "hot-rodders," the Civic Si has been modified by four magazines -- Super Street, Sport Compact Car, Popular Mechanics and Car and Driver -- as part of the Civic Si Challenge, a competition to see which publication could best modify the Si into the ultimate conversion vehicle. All four will be on display at the SEMA show, and the winning Si modified by Super Street will be on display in the Honda booth. "Honda and Acura products are the choice of today's trend-setting buyers who crave fun, performance and reliability," said Robert Weil, vice president of American Honda's Parts Division. "Our SEMA display clearly demonstrates American Honda's commitment to this new generation of automotive enthusiasts." The SEMA Show, which serves the performance and restyling industries, is the world's largest automotive aftermarket trade show of its kind. It will be held November 2-5 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and is expected to draw 80,000 attendees.
