Budget Group Hires Continental Airlines Executive as Chief Operating Officer
    DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Oct. 26 -- Budget Group, Inc.
announced today the appointment of David N. Siegel, 38, as president and chief
operating officer, Budget Group, Inc.  Siegel will be responsible for
overseeing all operating functions for Budget Group, including Budget Rent a
Car North America, Budget International and the Budget Truck group.  Siegel's
appointment is effective November 15, 1999.  He will be based at Budget's
headquarters in Lisle, Ill.

driving profitability and accountability as president of Continental Express.
His strong leadership, financial and operational skills will be invaluable in
validating and executing the strategies we have set for Budget Group as we
integrate our core car and truck rental businesses under a single company to
improve profitability."
    Siegel has served as president of Continental Express, a wholly owned
subsidiary of Continental Airlines, Inc. , since 1995.
Under his leadership, Continental Express more than doubled its revenues and
increased its profit contribution to parent Continental Airlines by
$250 million annually.  He was responsible for developing the strategy to
transition the airline to an all-jet fleet and for transforming Continental
Express into an industry leader in operating reliability.
    Prior to his appointment as president of Continental Express, Siegel was
senior vice president of Planning for Continental Airlines, Inc.  In this
capacity, he developed and implemented the route and fleet restructuring plan
that was the primary driver behind Continental's operational and financial
turnaround.  Siegel started his career at Continental Airlines in 1993, as
vice president of Corporate Development, where he led the formation of the
Continental-America West strategic alliance.
    From 1991 to 1993, Siegel served as director of Corporate Planning for
Northwest Airlines and was a key architect of their successful restructuring.
Before entering the airline industry, he worked for Bain & Company, an
international strategy consulting firm specializing in business turnarounds.
Siegel earned a Master's of Business Administration degree from Harvard
University and a Bachelor's of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and
Economics from Brown University.
