Woodward Facility Awarded QS-9000 Certification

OAK RIDGE, Tenn.--Oct. 25, 1999--Woodward Governor Company recently announced that its Automotive Products group was awarded ISO9001/QS-9000 certification. Driven by the automotive industry's need to ensure that suppliers provide the highest quality components, Automotive Products quickly synchronized with today's quality standards.
The certification recognizes that Automotive Products will consistently produce quality products for its customers. "We knew from the day we started our operations at Oak Ridge in May 1998 that we needed to be QS-9000 certified. Meeting and exceeding the quality requirements of our customers is essential to their success," said Joe Bergholz, vice president and general manager, Automotive Products.
After preparing nine months, Automotive Products was audited against their quality systems and was recommended for certification. Customers can be confident that all components and systems designed and produced at the facility will be to the standards set by the stringent QS-9000 requirements.
"We are very pleased to be certified because it significantly differentiates us from our competitors. Our goal is to be recognized in the industry as a proactive, efficient company that focuses on and beyond customer expectations," said Bergholz.
Automotive Products supplies components and subsystems to the automotive industry and total engine management systems for high-volume, low-horsepower industrial engine markets. "We are leveraging our high-quality, low-cost, high-volume skills and talent from the automotive to industrial markets. Our industrial customers are intensifying their requirement for QS-9000 certification or compliance because many are influenced by sister divisions of their automotive counterparts," said Bergholz.
Automotive Products serves the industrial stationary, mobile, and alternative fuel on-highway markets. Baker Electrical, an Automotive Products subsidiary, is a QS-9002 business. Baker designs and manufactures coils and solenoids for automotive applications such as anti-lock braking.
Woodward provides innovative engine controls and fuel delivery systems designed for a wide variety of applications. Headquartered in Rockford, Illinois, and serving global markets from locations worldwide, Woodward is a leading producer of fuel control systems and components for aircraft and industrial engines and turbines. The company's products and services are used in the aviation, marine, automotive, locomotive, large off-road vehicle, power generation, gas generation, and process industries.
