AutoZone Announces Promotions

    MEMPHIS, Tenn., Oct. 21 -- John C. Adams, Jr., chairman and
chief executive officer of AutoZone, Inc. , announced the following
promotions:

    Bill Rhodes, 34, previously vice president - finance, was promoted to
senior vice president - finance.  He reports to Bob Hunt, executive vice
president - chief financial officer.
    Mike Broderick, 32, previously regional manager, was promoted to vice
president - stores.  He reports to Jerry Colley, senior vice president -
stores.
    Eric Gould, 30, previously director - replenishment, was promoted to vice
president - replenishment.  He reports to Mike Longo, senior vice president -
distribution.
    Lesley Hartney, 34, previously director - communications, was promoted to
vice president - communications and training.  She reports to Joe Fabiano,
senior vice president - human resources.
    Matt Henson, 33, previously director of human resources development, was
promoted to vice president - field human resources.  He reports to Joe
Fabiano, senior vice president - human resources.
    Emma Jo Kauffman, 44, previously director of investor relations, was
promoted to vice president - investor relations.  She reports to Bob Hunt,
executive vice president - chief financial officer.
