Dana Heavy Truck Group's Spicer Heavy Axle and Brake Facility Receives Ohio Governor's Excellence in Workers' Compensation AwardTOLEDO, Ohio, Oct. 21 -- Dana Corporation's Heavy Truck Group announced that the Marion Forge facility of Spicer Heavy Axle and Brake Division received the 1999 Ohio Governor's Excellence in Workers' Compensation Award. This award was presented to 14 organizations from among the more than 274,000 employers in the state of Ohio. The award recognizes Ohio businesses and public employers that demonstrate a commitment to providing safe and cost-effective workplaces for their employees, while supporting their injured workers with safety and return to work programs. Marion Forge employs a full-time nurse and environmental safety manager and offers a light-duty return-to-work program. Ohio Gov. Bob Taft presented the award. "Everyone at the Marion Forge plant is excited and proud to have been recognized by the Governor of the state of Ohio for our safety efforts and performance," said Plant Manager Larry Shump. "In recent years, the Marion Forge plant's safety programs have received more awards and recognition than any other plant in the forging industry. Winning the Governor's Excellence Award, one of the most prestigious industrial awards in the state of Ohio, is further recognition of our dedication to safety and continuous improvement," Shump said. Dana's Marion Forge facility was also a 1999 winner of the Forging Industry Association (FIA) Human Resource Award. Marion Forge is part of Dana's Spicer Heavy Axle and Brake Division. With more than 300 employees, it manufactures steel forgings and axle shafts for the division's heavy axle manufacturing facilities.
