Tirex Tire Recycling Technology Near Completion: $41,740,000 USD Backlog Intact

MONTREAL--Oct. 21, 1999--The Tirex Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board - "TXMC") announced last Wednesday that since July, The Tirex TCS-1 Cryogenic Scrap Tire Recycling System has been tested for 100% flawless automatic operations.
This five-month test period revealed problems with material handling in the freezing tower. Through continuous testing and computer simulation design changes, improvements were made and the required equipment has been ordered to make these changes. We expect the freezing tower to be operational within 7 weeks.
The semi-automatic front-end (sidewall cutter debeader) assembly is operational today. The air plant, which produces the cold air has been operational and has met our expectations throughout the test period. The patented fracturing mill meets specification and is fully operational at present. Tirex's CEO, Terence C. Byrne stated that the improvements to the TCS-1 System are presently on schedule so the company can run the System continuously starting November 30, 1999.
Bid packages are currently being prepared to submit to subcontractors to initiate the commercial manufacturing of the System.
Tirex has taken orders for fourteen TCS-1 Plants, based upon which it has a present backlog of $41,750,000. Although such backlog may be used as a guideline in determining the value of orders received, it is subject to change by reason of several factors including possible cancellation of orders, change in the terms of the contracts, and other factors beyond Tirex's control. Hence, this should not be relied upon as being indicative of the revenues or profits Tirex might ultimately realize from such orders. The ultimate consummation of a sale pursuant to any order included in the backlog will be entirely dependent upon the TCS-1 Plant continuing to meet all performance expectations, each customer obtaining lease or other financing as well as all required permits and licenses, and Tirex's obtaining sufficient production financing and capacity to meet delivery requirements.
