Feuling Sets Two World Speed Records
BONNEVILLE SALT FLATS, Calif., Oct. 20 -- The Federation
International de l'Automobile (F.I.A.) today announced Jim Feuling's
Streamliner set two new world speed records in Bonneville Salt Flats with
speeds of 333.847 MPH for the Flying Mile and 537.820 KPH for the Flying
Kilometer, besting the pervious mile speed of 320 MPH and 520 KPH.
Feuling, the president of Feuling Advanced Technologies in Ventura,
California, said "The conditions here were great today and the Streamliner
really felt great. This is a terrific way to make one of the last runs of the
millennium here at Bonneville. We're proud of the team who have worked so
hard on this effort and we're going to make one more run tomorrow to see if we
can beat today's new mark."
The Feuling record setting vehicle is a 2,000 pound high-tech front-wheel
drive unit fitted with a 414 cubic inch normally aspirated small block Chevy
engine equipped with Feuling's latest cylinder head technology. The
Streamliner produces approximately 900 horsepower on clean burning methanol
fuel.
In November l997, Feuling also set four land speed records.
One of the world's leading engine designers, Feuling's previous
accomplishments include the records setting Oldsmobile Aerotech engine, the
revolutionary high efficiency "Three Valve Combustion Chamber System," and
major contributions to the new Harley Davidson "Twin Cam" 88 engine.
