Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America Selects Johnson Controls as Winner of Supplier AwardCompany honored for excelling in quality, delivery and competitiveness for shipments PLYMOUTH, Mich., Oct. 20 - Johnson Controls has been selected as one of Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America's (MMMA) Supplier Award winners for production parts. The award is based on Johnson Controls' performance in the areas of quality, delivery and cost competitiveness for shipments received by Mitsubishi during the 1998 calendar year. "MMMA's turnaround efforts in quality and productivity are being helped in large measure by outstanding supplier performance which we are delighted to recognize," said Rich Gilligan, MMMA executive vice president and chief operating officer. "These companies and their employees demonstrate that Mitsubishi has the leadership in its supply chain to be highly competitive in the North American marketplace for the future." Johnson Controls is one of 22 North American suppliers to win this award. "We are very pleased to receive this honor from Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America," said Robert Stander, vice president and general manager of North American interior operations. "The Johnson Controls team at our sun visor manufacturing plant works hard to exceed the expectations of Mitsubishi. And when it comes to customer satisfaction, we will continue to raise the bar. This award reinforces our position as a top interior supplier to the auto industry." The interiors organization that won the award designs and manufactures vehicle sun visors for the Mitsubishi Galant and Eclipse. The automaker manufactures these vehicles in Normal, Illinois. With facilities throughout the world, Johnson Controls supplies vehicles produced by Mitsubishi globally. Some of the company's most popular vehicles feature products supplied by Johnson Controls, including automotive interior products and batteries for the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Galant in North America; the Mitsubishi Carisma and MGX Spacestar in Europe; the Mitsubishi Magna in Australia; the Mitsubishi 3000 GT and Diamante in Japan and the Mitsubishi L300 and Pajero in South Africa, for the 1999 model year.
