A. Schulman Names Ron Andres Vice President of Manufacturing for North America

    AKRON, Ohio--Oct. 20, 1999--A. Schulman Inc. today announced the appointment of Ron Andres to serve as the company's vice president of manufacturing for North America.
    Andres, who had been director of manufacturing for North America, has overall responsibility for manufacturing and operations at eight A. Schulman plastics plants in North America. The plants represent a combined annual plastics compounding capacity of approximately 560 million pounds.
    "Ron's expertise in operations, manufacturing and customer service makes him the ideal person to lead our manufacturing operations into the new millennium," President and Chief Executive Officer Terry L. Haines said.
    From 1997 to 1998, Andres was A. Schulman's North American manufacturing manager. For the previous seven years, he was plant manager of the Bellevue, Ohio, plant. In 1989, he became the first general manager of The Sunprene Company, a joint venture between A. Schulman and Mitsubishi Chemical MKV with manufacturing lines in the Bellevue plant.
    Before that, Andres was assistant plant manager and a technical manager at Bellevue. Andres began his career with A. Schulman at its Stryker, Ohio, plant, where he worked as a chemist from 1976 to 1978. He left the company in 1978 but rejoined the organization in 1984 and assumed his variety of responsibilities at Bellevue.
    Andres, 49, holds a master's degree in business administration from Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio. He also has an undergraduate social science degree.
    Andres is married to Neva, his wife of 27 years. The couple has two children.
