John D. Watson Named Vice President and General Manager, CTS Microelectronics

    ELKHART, Ind.--Oct. 20, 1999--John D. Watson has been named Vice President and General Manager of CTS Corporation's hybrid microelectronics business according to an announcement today by George "Bing" A. Harding, Group Vice President, CTS Corporation. Watson, a native of England, has over 35 years of engineering, marketing and general management experience with companies in both Europe and North America. He will assume overall management responsibility for CTS Microelectronics located in West Lafayette, IN. CTS Microelectronics is a turn-key designer and manufacturer of custom hybrid microcircuits and a world leader in the manufacture of LTCC networks, providing "specialized packaging solutions" to customers.
    Watson is a graduate of Hatfield Polytechnic Institute, Hatfield, England, where he received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering. He began his career in the United Kingdom in 1962 as Design Engineer for the DeHaviland Aircraft Company--British Aircraft Corporation. In 1964, he joined Elliott Automation Ltd. -- General Electric PLC as Project Leader, Lazers.
    From 1966 to 1971, Watson held Sales Engineer/Product Marketing Manager positions with Solartron Division, Schlumberger, Ltd., Farmbrough, England. In late 1971, he relocated to the United States with Schlumberger and held several increasingly important marketing, sales and general management assignments. Watson was named President of Philips Data Display Systems in 1987; and in 1989, accepted the position of President, Display Technologies Inc., Elgin, IL.
    In 1995, Mr. Watson joined CTS Corporation's interconnect products business, New Hope, MN, as Vice President and General Manager. CTS' MN interconnect business was sold in 1997, however, Mr. Watson was retained in various consulting positions by CTS Corporation until being named Vice President and General Manager, CTS Microelectronics.
