Dana's Katja Busch-Merino Receives Young Leadership and Excellence Award from Automotive Hall of FameTOLEDO, Ohio, Oct. 19 -- Dana Corporation today announced that Katja Busch-Merino has received the Young Leadership and Excellence Award from the Automotive Hall of Fame. As director of sales, quality, and engineering at Dana's FTE Mexicana facility, in Puebla, Mexico, Busch-Merino developed and implemented quality programs that resulted in the facility earning QS-9000 certification after only 12 months of operation. She is currently helping to implement the same quality initiatives throughout Dana's global FTE brake and clutch manufacturing operations. "It is truly an honor to be recognized by the Hall of Fame," said Busch- Merino. "I am happy that my working for Dana has given me the opportunity to face challenges and to grow in my career." She was instrumental in the site selection process for the FTE Mexicana operation as well as the purchase of the selected site. She was also entrusted with the responsibility of negotiating with local authorities, property owners, and contractors. "We are very proud of Katja, and I am glad to see her hard work and dedication recognized by the Hall of Fame," said Bill Carroll, president of Dana's Automotive Systems Group. "She possesses the business skills and social awareness that we hope to see in our young leaders." Busch-Merino dedicates her free time to helping homeless children in Puebla, Mexico, by raising awareness of their plight and by simply spending time caring for them. "These children live in abject and dangerous poverty. I am just trying to show them that people have not forgotten about them," she said. The Automotive Hall of Fame is an educational resource and visitor attraction located in Dearborn, Mich. The Young Leadership and Excellence Award is given to men and women under the age of 35 who have demonstrated significant potential as future industry leaders.
