Feuling Streamliner Returns to BonnevilleVENTURA, Calif., Oct. 19 -- The Feuling Advanced Technologies Streamliner returns to the Bonneville Salt Flats this week in search of another land-speed world record. Jim Feuling, President of Feuling Advanced Technologies, will again be the man behind the wheel: "We're out to set the wheel driven record with our updated Streamliner." The 2,000-pound high-tech front-wheel drive research vehicle is currently fitted with a 414 cubic-inch normally aspirated small block Chevy engine equipped with Feuling's latest cylinder head technology and producing approximately 900 horsepower on clean burning methanol fuel. In November 1997, with the Streamliner in a three-wheel configuration, Feuling set four land speed records and established a Land Speed Authority (LSA) top speed mark of 332.103 mph. "We've spent a lot of time and effort preparing for this meet. The Streamliner is currently set up in a four-wheel configuration," said Feuling. "We're guardedly optimistic about the condition of the Salt Flats. At the Speed Week meet in August the salt surface was very poor. Last month's U.S.F.R.A. meet was rained out and the BNI 'World Finals' this week is our last shot this millennium!" Feuling has faced many similar challenges in the past. One of the world's leading engine designers, Feuling's accomplishments include the record setting Oldsmobile Aerotech engine, the revolutionary high efficiency "Three Valve Combustion Chamber System," and major contributions to the new Harley Davidson "Twin Cam" 88 engine. He currently holds over forty-five patents covering a variety of technologies, ranging from engine components to the design of the Bell/Feuling SS Aerodynamic racing helmet currently worn by many of the drivers on the CART and Formula One circuits.
